- (1887 Vienna-1970) (Austria / France / Argentina); aka Lydis, Mariette / Ronsperger, Marietta / Comtesse Govone / Kary, Marietta PachofferPainter and draughtsman. Born Marietta Ron-sperger, she is best known as Mariette Lydis (from a short-lived marriage to Jean Lydis), but also known as Marietta Pachoffer Kary in the early 1920s and later, the Comtesse Govone (from a subsequent marriage to publisher Giuseppi Govone). Her career flourished in 1930s Paris, but she fled to Argentina to avoid the Nazis. Sexuality and eroticism were favorite themes in her work, both in portfolios and illustrations to published works, particularly lesbian scenes.
